Concerning Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act

Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was signed by George Bush on Friday 13th. The law does not prohibit playing at online casinos in jurisdictions where it was not banned previously. However, the law prohibit illegal gambling transactions:
1) transfering money to the offshore gambling sites and sportbooks. US banks should block such gambling transaction;
2) prohibit gambling Internet sites to accept wagers from US residents. As far as all these sites are licenzed and operated from foreign countries this law is not applicable to them.
Everybody is looking for the implementation of the law. Whether US prosecutors will put everybody in jail or just block the money transfers.

Most of the reputable online casinos groups and online gaming software providers decided to stop providing services to ALL US sitizens (Cryptologic casinos and poker rooms), some of them to the residents of the specific 11 States where Internet gambling is illegal by other laws and regulations (Microgaming casinos and poker rooms). See the list of the casinos that allow US gamblers to play with the exemption of the following States: Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Michigan, New York, New Jersey and Wisconsin.

There are a group of online casinos that accept wagers from ALL US residents. These casinos feature Real Time Gaming (RTG) software: Internet casinos for U.S. players.

Experts forecast that online gambling industry will become more grey and US players should care and avoid some of the unfair gambling operators and rogue casinos that now activated their efforts to take the places of the reputable gambling sites. If you live in one of the 11 States listed above we advice you not to gamble online.
